Maintenance windows mute alerts during planned work, like upgrades, migrations or reboots, and can tell your customers about it in advance.
Schedule maintenance
Open Maintenance and choose Schedule maintenance. Set:
- Title and Message (optional): what's happening, for example "Database upgrade".
- Starts, Ends and Time zone (your browser's by default). A window can last up to 30 days.
- Covers: everything in this team (including things added later), or only specific servers, monitors and heartbeats.
- Show on status pages: announce it on your status pages.
During the window
- Alerts on covered servers, monitors and heartbeats are still recorded, marked Muted, but nobody is notified. They don't escalate or open incidents.
- For windows shown on status pages, affected components show as Under maintenance.
- Data keeps being collected, so your charts have no gaps.
The window ends on its own at the scheduled time. Finished early? Choose End now. When a window ends, anything that's still broken is announced as usual.
Announcing it
Public maintenance appears up to 14 days ahead on status pages that show an affected server or monitor, and in their RSS feed. Every window, public or private, also shows as a banner on the servers it covers, so your team knows too.
